CPCS A40 Theory Preparation

The learning outcomes of the CPCS A40 Slinger/Signaller CPCS course are:

• Describe the responsibilities of slinger signallers.
• Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for duties.
• Identify and explain the basic functions of different types of lifting equipment & lifting accessories.
• Undertake pre-use checks on lifting accessories.
• Identify non-serviceable items and explain the procedure for placing them out-of-service.
• Identify and explain centres of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads.
• Set up exclusion zones, explain actions required for emergency actions and identify overhead hazards.
• Secure loads to a hook using appropriate lifting accessories. Ensure balance, security and integrity.
• Direct and guide the movement of loads using different methods of communication.
• Carry out all out-of-service and securing procedures.
